Forbidden Heat by: Opal Carew

I gave this book 3 out of 5 stars.

Forbidden Heat is a story about old friends Danielle, Jake and Trey. When an old friend's wedding brings the friends back together after not seeing each other since college, old feelings surface once more as Danielle battles with a secret fantasy that she's held since she last saw the two men. She wants to be with them both but doesn't think it's possible since the two are together as far as she knows. Soon she finds out that the two are now only friends and her interest sparks even hotter. The three begin having fun together. The whole time Danielle tells herself she is helping to bring the two men back together. Can she keep the pretense up, or will the truth come out and if it does, what will the men decide?

I've wanted to read this book for quite a while, so I was very excited to get a chance to finally get to it. The beginning took me a little bit to get into, and there were parts in the book that seemed to drag on without much excitement. Most of the rest of the book though, was entertaining and hot. The characters were very likable. I especially liked when the men were able to draw Danielle out of her shell.

Beautiful Bastard by: Christina Lauren

I rated this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Beautiful Bastard is a story about Chloe Mills and Bennett Ryan.  Chloe is an intern working at Bennett's family business under his supervision.  Bennett, a strong-willed male, pushes Chloe each and every day.  Chloe, a strong-willed woman herself, doesn't let Bennett get to her.  She instead pushes back.  The two continue on with this tug of war of power between one another until the two finally give in to the feelings smothering between them.

I loved this book!  It was a very quick read-I seemed to fly through the pages.  From the very beginning I couldn't help but fall in love with the continuous back and fourth smart comments from both Chloe and Bennett.  I would definately recommend this title to anyone and everyone!

Library trip and new books

So today I finally decided to head over to the library and grab a few books.  Today I only grabbed 3 but I know I'll be back soon! The books that I got today were, Ruby Red by: Kerstin Gier, Crimson Bound by: Rosamund Hodge and Matched by: Ally Condie.

Recently, I also received two books from www.booksfree.com.  They were Grey by: E.L. James and Sex Criminals, Vol 1 by: Matt Fraction (which I already read and reviewed)  From www.thriftbooks.com I also received The Isle of the Lost by: Melissa de la Cruz.   I'm very excited about most of these titles, and can't wait to get around to them along with many others.

Sex Criminals, Vol. 1 by: Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky

I rated this book 1 out of 5 stars

Sex Criminals is a graphic novel about Suzie and Jon who both have the ability to stop time when they have sex. They each think they are the only ones with this ability until they meet each other. Once they've met, they come up with a plan to begin robbing banks to help save Suzie's library.

I was very excited to pick up this book and start it. The idea really intrigued me but I was very disappointed when I actually read it. The idea, ended up not working as well as I thought it would. There also seemed to be way too much back history to how the two realized their powers. I did not like this book, and would not recommend it.

Knight & Play

I rated this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Knight & Play focuses on Sophie Black and Lucien Knight.  Sophie's husband is cheating on her.  When she finds out, she does the unthinkable, she sleeps with her new boss.  Lucien hates men who cheat due to past events.  When he finds out Sophie's husband is cheating, he decides to show Sophie she deserves so much more than her cheating husband.  The two embark on a emotional, erotic journey.  Will one or both of them be hurt when the week is over?

This is the first book that I've read by Kitty French but it won't be the last.  I can't wait to continue on with this trilogy and find out what happens between Sophie and Lucien.  The ending of this book ended perfectly, ending at just the right moment, to leave you wanting, and needing to know what happens next.  If you are a fan of fifty shades, I would definately recommend this book.  It is very similar but yet different enough not to be just the same story.

Shatter Me by: Tahereh Mafi

I rated this book 3 out of 5 stars.

Shatter Me is a story about Juliette who has a unique ability. She thinks that she is cursed because of this ability especially after she is taken prisoner. Her captors want to use her and her power for evil. Juliette must fight for not only her freedom but to be able to use her power for good.

I was very excited to read this book and start this series. When you first start it, it does take a little bit to get into it just because the story is written so disorganized as it written from Juliette's point of view. Although I didn't mind the story, it was not as good as I was expecting it to be. I also found the ending of this book good but it pretty much wrapped things up, and left me no need to continue on with the other two books. I'm not sure if I will continue on with this series but overall I did enjoy the overall story-line of this book.

New Book Mail!!

Do you love the feel of receiving new books in the mail.  I know as a reader I anticipate that moment that my new book orders will arrive and I am finally able to tear into them, see the beautiful covers, find a new home for them on my shelves, and eventually reading their wonderful words.

I just received part of my newest order from www.thriftbooks.com  This is one of my favorite places to buy books from.  Through this website you are able to get some great deals on books.  You are able to choose the condition of the books you order, which means they sometimes ship from various locations.  Shipping is free for the any orders over $10.00 shipping in the USA. Another nice thing is you are able to sign up for reading rewards for free.  This reward system allows you to earn a $5.00 coupon for each $50.00 that you spend on the site.  Also, they offer a referral system that allows you to refer friends; when those referred, set up an account and summit their first orders, you both will receive a 15% off coupon good towards your next purchase.

Today, I received 2 of my 3 book order.  The titles I received today are: Days of Blood & Starlight by: Laini Taylor and Dorothy Must Die by: Danielle Paige.  These are both titles that I have been looking at for quite some while.  I can not wait to get to these titles.  Anyone else read either of these books?  If so what did you think?

Tart by:Lauren Dane

I rated this book 5 out of 5 stars.

This was my first book by Lauren Dane and I loved it! Couldn't be any happier. Tart is the story of Juliet who falls not only for her old friend Gideon but also one of her best friends Cal. The three embark on an unusual relationship which makes for some steamy love scenes between them all. I loved how Juliet was still a strong willed woman who wasn't intimidated by having two headstrong men.

I would definately recommend this book if you are open to reading about relationships such as m/m and m/f/m. I really enjoyed reading this book and look forward to exploring more of Dane's work in the future.

Riding Wild

Riding Wild is the first book in the Wild Riders series by Jaci Burton.  The story focuses on Lily and Mac who are old flames who become reunited again when they run into one another while both trying to break into a museum for two very different reasons.  Both of them are forced to confront old feelings and decide if they can trust one another again.

I did find this story slower paced with not a whole lot happening all the time but overall it was a good story and I couldn't help but love Lily and Mac's interaction with one another.  They worked so well with one another.  Even when they were bickering with one another, you couldn't deny the chemistry between the two.  Also if you are looking for a story with some steamy love scenes, there are quite a few in here. :)

I gave this book 3 out of 5 stars on Goodreads. Follow me on Goodreads and check out all my other reviews and recommendations also.  https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/40985355-amber-brownlow

Book Mail!

I'm very excited to receive one of my newest orders from a wonderful website called www.booksfree.com  This is a website that is basically like Netflix only for paperback books.  You are able to choose a plan that works for you price wise.  The plan you choose determines how many books you can have checked out at a time and also how many books will be in each book.  You create a list of all the books that you want to read and are available on the website.  Then the company automatically sends you the next one on your list that is available.  Once you have finished reading the books, you simply send them back in prepaid envelopes that are supplied for you with each order.  How many books you send back at a time depends on how many you've chosen to receive in each order.  Every subscription choice also allows you an unlimited amount of books a month.  So how ever many you can read and return, is how many you are able to have each month.
I just received Serving Love  by: Annmarie McKenna and Tart (A Delicious Novel) by: Lauren Dane.  I'm very excited to start reading these new titles and see how they are!

Reading Goals for 2016

2016 is finally here.  That means it's time for us readers to start setting some reading goals for ourselves.  The first goal I've set for myself is my 2016 Reading Challenge on Goodreads of 100 books.  Check out my challenge and follow me there.  https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/40985355-amber-brownlow  Another goal is to hopefully get my TBR shelf lower (Although that may be difficult as I have a book buying problem) :)  I have a few series that I would like to get to this year.  Some of these include the Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi, and The Internal Devices series by Cassandra Clare.

What are some of your reading goals for 2016?  Comment and let me know what you'll be reading this year.
